In 2 Nephi 28, Nephi provides the most detailed explanation of Satan’s strategy found anywhere in scripture. Many of the devil’s key methods are reflected in the ideologies of today. One example is the attitude of complacency within the Church. Part of this attitude is thinking that we already know enough and no longer need the prophets. Another part is thinking that our assumptions are well-informed and need not be adjusted in light of new information. Both can place one on a sandy foundation and lead to a faith crisis. Being aware of Satan’s strategy and building upon the rock (Christ) protects individuals from falling away.
