Abstract

On three occasions Nephi says that his father offered sacrifice during their wilderness sojourn. When he first arrives in the valley of Lemuel he makes and offering and gives thanks to God (1 Nephi 2:7), but following the two missions of his sons to the land of Jerusalem he offers "sacrifice and burnt offerings" (1 Nephi 5:9; 7:22). Reasons for both kinds of sacrifices are discussed.
