Abstract

One component to both Lehi's and Nephi's respective visions was the presence of an angelic guide who led them through the vision and expounded on the meaning of what they were witnessing. This is a prevalent theme found in comparable apocalyptic scenes in both biblical and non-biblical texts. This in turn strongly suggests that Lehi's and Nephi's visions are best read as part of the apocalyptic genre.
