Abstract | In the summer of 1829, a man named Thomas B. Marsh received a prompting that he should travel nearly 400 miles from Boston, Massachusetts, to upstate New York, not knowing what he would find there. Thomas stayed in western New York for three months to no avail. On his way home, someone he was staying with mentioned a “Golden Book” found by a young man named Joseph Smith. Thomas went to Palmyra, as the woman directed, and arrived at Grandin’s printshop just in time to get a fresh copy of the first sixteen pages of the Book of Mormon. These 16 pages were instrumental in bringing him into the church. |
