Abstract | The fourth stage is about the end times and final judgement. Nephi’s vision of the end times in 1 Nephi 14 describes it as a time of God’s power and glory, his blessing of the righteous, and his punishment of the unrepentant. These same themes are prevalent within Isaiah 2–14 (quoted in 2 Nephi 12–24). Nephi would have recognized his own vision in these themes and understood their reference to the final judgement. Having multiple witnesses to the final judgement helps reinforce the truth of coming events, and Nephi’s plainness helps clarify Isaiah’s more difficult to understand material. |
