Abstract | Nephi's selection of certain Isaiah passages has led some scholars to conclude that the early Nephite colony in the New World interacted with so-called "others"; non-Lehite and non-Jaredite indigenous inhabitants of the Americas. This in turn may help us understand not only what Nephi's intentions were with selecting certain Isaiah passages, but also what exactly the Book of Mormon actually claims about the population of the New World at the time of the Lehites' arrival. |
