Abstract | References to ordinances, as well as meaningful examples of them, can be found in numerous Book of Mormon passages. These passages help demonstrate how essential ordinances are to Christ’s Gospel and Heavenly Father’s Plan of Salvation. The word “ordinance” in the Book of Mormon often refers to laws that were received by covenant, as was common in the Ancient Near East. This demonstrates that God takes ordinances very seriously: they can be seen as divinely ordained laws received by covenant. |
