Moroni’s famous promise assures those who have read the Book of Mormon that if they will ask God if it is true “with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost.” Some may wonder, though, exactly what type of spiritual manifestation they should expect in response to a sincere prayer. Perhaps anticipating this crucial question, Moroni then discussed the nature of spiritual gifts and emphasized how the Lord works through a variety manifestations. When this principle is applied to Moroni’s promise, readers can conclude that they should not confine the expected confirmation of truth to a specific type of spiritual manifestation. Instead, they should be open to the various ways that God communicates inspiration and revelation.
