Abstract | Nephi's record speaks of "the elders of the Jews" who opposed his father Lehi and conspired with the wicked Laban. Readers have wondered who these elders might have been. By comparing the Book of Mormon with Old Testament passages and ancient Israelite culture, the identity of these elders can be better discerned, and their role in Nephi's narrative more fully understood. |
