Abstract

Joseph Smith claimed the Book of Mormon was a product of multiple ancient authors. Recent studies of the words and phrases used by the book's various writers have provided evidence of this claim. The following notes on how the word state is employed in the Book of Mormon suggest that Alma the Younger can be singled out as a distinct author within the record.
