Abstract | Ether 9:28–35 records a famine and snake infestation among the Jaredites. The details of this story can seem odd, but actually reflect pretty typical snake behavior during a famine. If the famine was caused by a volcanic eruption, then this narrative makes even more sense. While some critics have mocked this story as fanciful, it is actually an ecologically sound sequence of events. The is also a spiritual lesson taught by this story. |
