Abstract

"And also the Lord will remember the prayers of the righteous, which have been put up unto him for them" (Mormon 5:21). There are a multitude of examples throughout the scriptures of individuals turning to God in prayer. In this piece the artist wanted to celebrate those moments of quiet reflection. The wars recorded in the Book of Mormon tell the stories of many great nations and righteous people. It is amazing that throughout all these events, the Lord was still mindful of his children individually. While great prophets like Mormon, Moroni, and Helaman were reaching out to the Lord for direction, those righteous generations were also turning to God for strength in their own individual prayers. This painting depicts a warrior, kneeling in supplication to receive his own personal witness of Christ and the strength to face the battles ahead. It serves as a reminder that in facing the battles of today's world, as we turn to the Lord, he hears us.
