Hales describes his service in the US Air Force as a fighter pilot. He compares himself to Captain Moroni in that he fought not for personal power, but rather for freedom and country (Alma 60:36). He also shares that he felt guided by the Spirit just like the Nephites were led by the Liahona (Mosiah 1:16). He uses 2 Nephi 28:7-8 and Alma 41:10 to warn against the deceptions of the world. Lastly, he uses 3 Nephi 12:16 to conclude that we should all be examples to the rest of the world.
