Recent research makes it possible to resolve one of the contradictions between Martin Harris's and Charles Anthon's versions of what transpired at their meeting in February of 1828. This paper includes an overview of the incident and appendices that (1) document what Harris and Anthon each said about their meeting, (2) show that Harris probably told the truth about Anthon's mention of Egyptian resemblances to the Book of Mormon characters, and (3) illustrate the kind of information about Egyptian available to Anthon by 1828.
