Zion Is Established in the Last Days (62:1–12)

The Lord

62 1For the sake of Zion, I will not keep silent.
And for the sake of Jerusalem, I will not be quiet,

until her righteousness goes forth as brightness
and her salvation as a burning torch.

Isaiah

2And nations will see your righteousness
and all kings your glory.

And you will be called by a new name,
which the mouth of the LORD will name.

3You will be a crown of glory in the hand of the LORD
and a royal diadem in the palm of your God.

4You will no more be called “Forsaken,”
and your land will no more be called “Desolate,”

because you will be called “[Delightful][1],”
and your land “[Union],”

for the LORD delights in you,
and your land will be married.

5For as a young man marries a virgin,
so will your [God][2] marry you,

and as a bridegroom rejoices over the bride,
so will your God rejoice over you.

The Lord

6I have set watchmen upon your walls, O Jerusalem,
and all day and night they will not be silent.

Isaiah

Those who mention the LORD do not keep quiet

7and give no silence to Him until He establishes,
and until He makes Jerusalem the praise in the earth.

8The LORD has sworn by His right hand,
and by His mighty arm,

The Lord

I will not give your grain for food to your enemies again,
and foreigners will not drink your new wine for which you have labored.

9But those who harvest it will eat it and praise the LORD,
and those who gather it will drink it in the courts of My sanctuary.

Isaiah

10Pass through, pass through the gates;
prepare the way for the people.

Build up, build up the highway,
clear away the rock,
lift up an ensign over the peoples.

11Behold, the LORD has proclaimed to the end of the earth,
say to the daughter of Zion,

God’s covenant people

“Behold, your Salvation comes!
Behold, His reward is with Him,
and His recompense is before Him.”

Isaiah

12And they will be called,

Titles of Lord’s people

“The Holy People,”
“The Redeemed of the LORD.”

Isaiah

And you will be called,

Titles of Lady Zion

“Sought After,”
“A City Not Forsaken.”
