Abstract

Submitted to the 2021 Book of Mormon Central Art Contest – Youth Division.

This drawing is a depiction of William W. Phelps's vision of the destroyer riding upon the waters, warning his traveling companions not to travel by the river, but by land. The vision took place on McIlwaine's Bend, a dangerous and historical part of the Missouri river. Phelps is seen at the bottom right corner of the drawing, while his companions are on the bottom left. Joseph Smith wrote that some were able to hear the vision, but not see it.

The artist lives in Southern Utah with her family and farm animals, which notably includes alpacas, cats, and a dog that won't stay in the backyard. She enjoys drawing and discussing books with her favorite and only sibling, attempting to be an opera singer, and finding new foods to try. Her greatest wish is to one day get a degree in Dental Hygiene.
